Old War Posters

I am sure some of you remember the old war posters from World War II (1941-1945). What a nation we became as we bought the war bonds to help fight the war. We did without a lot of things but nothing in compared to what our men and women suffered for each and every one of us. The Five Sullivan poster reminds me of the fact we had four Sullivan men fighting in World War II; three were United States Marines and one was a Merchant Marine and they all made it back in one piece. The graphics are fantastic. I wouldn't mind owning a few of these not only for history sake but for the value of the poster itself. I see no artists to give credit to. The work is exceptional and this is only a small part of the posters shown in an attachment that came in yesterday. Hopefully it will invoke a bit of Patriotism and we will remember to pray for the men and women who are now overseas fighting an entirely different kind of war . . . but, nevertheless, a war where human life is destroyed on a daily basis. Let us hope we get our spirit back and beat those who would enslave us.
On a lighter note my calendar shows Maxine stating "I like spring. You tell someone to go fly a kite, and they actually do it." So today, as daughter Pat and I travel up the highway to Coos Bay we will feel like flying kites . . . we are leaving town for an overnight and a walk in the mall to shop until we drop. That shouldn't take long (smile). I have hopes of a dip in the hot tub but not before we stop off at the lovely restaurant where food is served hot and delicious. Of course we will play a few pennies in hopes of winning our fortune, but that is always such an illusive hope in being at the right machine at the right time and it is all chance . . . the house always wins in the long run and someone has to pay for those ninety-two new rooms. One never knows as the dauntless spirit pushes on. There is an old adage that has been told for many years "Live in high hope" only no one told us the end of it for a long time and the ending is "And die in despair." Wouldn't you think someone would have told us the old adage "hope springs eternal" with no other ending, some one probably did and that is why we continue our 'bad' habits . . . want to join us?
Make your day bright and beautiful, just like you.
